    COOK - (FULL-TIME)

     

    Laurel Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center  is looking for an experienced Cook to prepare meals for residents as determined by daily and weekly menus.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • 2+ years cooking experience in a long-term care, sub-acute strongly preferred.
    • ServSafe certification a plus.
    • Must meet all health requirements.
    • Must pass criminal background check.
    • Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (essential job functions), with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, understand verbal and written instructions, practice active listening and communicate effectively.

    Responsibilities

    • Must have a strong understanding for special diets, and special menus and events.
    • Must be able to follow federal and state dietary guidelines.
    • Oversees kitchen staff and directing as needed.
    • Must be able to effectively communicate with nursing staff on the dietary needs of the residents.
    • Strong working knowledge concerning proper food storage procedures, e.g., defrosting frozen food, cooking at required temperatures and maintenance of food at safe temperatures.
    • Follows menus accurately, demonstrating accuracy in weighing, measuring, and portioning food.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
    • Assists in daily final cleanup and lockup of kitchen.
    • Any other duties assigned by the Dining Services Manager.
